How To Feel Safe

We are living in a time of intense turbulence that can easily stir up the panicky sense of not feeling safe. When witnessing scary events that occur in the world, we assume that we need to defend and protect ourselves to stay safe. When our mind is oriented towards what we think we need to do or to have in order to be safe, we focus on chasing safety externally. Ironically, despite our best efforts, we never manage to actually feel safe, no matter what we accomplish or accumulate.

This mindset presumes that we are not already inherently safe. It is based on a belief that we are still threatened for survival and it is up to us to make sure we do. This point of view presumes that we are at the effect of external people and events. That is quite a frightening point of view.
Fortunately, it actually works in the reverse way. Authentic safety comes from the inside, from a different energy system within us than the one that is hardwired for survival. Happily, as we outgrow our belief in survival, we don’t need to effort to keep ourselves safe because we already are. The more we acknowledge and connect with our inner state of safety, the more we will experience ourselves as safe in life.

We can touch the feeling of safety where it resides in deep stillness. In this place we don’t need to do or know anything to make ourselves safe. Nothing is needed other than what is so in the moment. When we embrace and celebrate what is, rather than constantly trying to make things different, that allows for positive change. We get to be ourselves exactly as we are. We can explore the lightness, aliveness and freedom that come from authentic safety. As we continue to surrender and receive our natural flow, it moves effortlessly into form, creating a beautiful life.

· release past trauma
· experience the state of authentic safety
