Getting Out of Pain

Write your awesome label here.
A common reaction to all kinds of pain is to try to make it stop. Many people who live in pain try to manage it. Others have lost hope and live in despair believing that they will always be in pain. Others blame and shame themselves for their pain, resorting to a “poor me” or “why me” attitude. Others ignore it, deny it and try to distance themselves from it.

None of these methods heal acute pain or get to the root of why long-term pain is there. Pain is a messenger. It lets us know where we are out of alignment with our natural flow. With any kind of pain, as we are willing to be present with caring attention, healing begins. When we are willing to inquire deeply enough, we discover that most often it’s our point of view that creates our pain.

If someone is hitting themselves in the head with a baseball bat and wants to know how to get their head to stop hurting, they need to see that they are hitting themselves in the head and stop doing it. Otherwise it seems like it’s just happening to them and they don’t get to the root of why the pain is there.

We can cause our own pain without knowing we’re doing it. The demands, pressures, guilt and judgments that we put on ourselves, that might seem necessary and may not appear painful, actually are. When we play roles with other people, we create our own pain and then want to blame them for it. Any belief, thought or point of view that does not reflect the truth of our balanced and harmonious flow causes pain.

To get out of pain, we don’t need to say “cancel that thought” or try to eradicate or fight with our perspectives. Instead, we can be open to larger points of view that allow a healing flow of energy that brings about lightness and well-being.

In this workshop we will:
  • identify where you are in pain physically and/or emotionally
  • discover which perspectives are constricting and causing your pain
  • open to more expansive perspectives that initiate a healing flow of energy
  • experience well-being beyond pain

The workshop lasts 90 minutes.
